I seem to have picked up a lot of speed in the quilting department and even though this one is about half the size of a full-size quilt—or a big baby quilt—I’m really proud that I did it so quickly. These were more of my now exhausted stash of vintage quilt blocks, with light blue linen that I brought home from a photo shoot for the backing. All in all, I think this quilt probably used about $15 worth of materials, which I find rather impressive.
Let me tell you, buying vintage quilt blocks in the Midwest is a bargain shoppers dream come true!
I love knowing that some other woman, at some other point in time, did the work of piecing all of the blocks together. And that I was able to finish it for her.
You might be wondering where this quilt will live and that’s a valid question. Honestly, I’m not sure. We now have big, homemade quilts in every room in our house where we could potentially need one, so my thought is to start making back stock so that I have gifts when I need them. Or, if I ever decide to start selling them, I figure I should have a decent supply to start with (that’s probably unlikely but you never know!).
