Late last winter, I had the pleasure of developing and producing a handmade gifts story for this year's special holiday issue of Better Homes and Garden's Do It Yourself. Each gift comes together in less than an hour (and most are much faster to make than that!) and are simple ways to spread a little holiday joy. Look for the issue, which is packed with holiday ideas for decorating, entertaining, and gift giving, on newsstands this fall.
There's a new entertaining magazine on newsstands now from Better Homes and Gardens that includes a tomato tasting party that I helped create projects for and style. I loved working on this story because the projects were simple, yet pretty, and we got to rely on fresh summer herbs for much of the color and beauty.
I also got to borrow an impressive collection of blue mason jars from a local vintage shop, which turned out to pair wonderfully with nasturtiums and the herbs,

I loved working on this story because, let's face it, making pretty things is a really fun way to spend a day! But also, crafting works a different part of my brain than writing or recipe development does, so it's always a joy to get to be creative in that way.
